It was for
many years
The only love I felt
The only entity that did
my hardened heart melt
I loved its people
And its people loved me
I vowed to reside there
For eternity
But life does not heed
A petty man’s vows
And Fate does not obey
But its own wishes bestows
For now in search of happiness
Of a different kind
I am forced to leave the very place
that I dearly love, behind
To wait, or not to wait
To take the step, or contemplate
‘Tis the decision I must take
To trust in love, for love’s own sake.
The only love I felt
The only entity that did
my hardened heart melt
I loved its people
And its people loved me
I vowed to reside there
For eternity
But life does not heed
A petty man’s vows
And Fate does not obey
But its own wishes bestows
For now in search of happiness
Of a different kind
I am forced to leave the very place
that I dearly love, behind
To wait, or not to wait
To take the step, or contemplate
‘Tis the decision I must take
To trust in love, for love’s own sake.
